Kekkel en Kraai started all the way back in 1996 as an offset point for Tydstroom who, at that stage, belonged to Bokomo. The first branch opened in 1996 in Malmesbury in the Swartland (Western Cape). Since then many more branches opened and by 2008, there were 70 branches open. Most of them in the Western Cape.
